CLASSIC VIDEO: Lost Boyz feat Tha Dogg Pound & Canibus - "Music Makes Me High (L.T. Hutton Remix) (1996)

"Who wants to be the one to get struck first/
I bury they body on any planet except the earth/
I rip up, swell your lip up, it's a stick up/
Make put your hands up on your head like you was doin sit-ups"

Man this was a dream come true. Lost Boyz and Tha Dogg Pound were my favorite groups then. Then you had this young, unknown rapper named Canibus to absolutely blaze his verse (which he made a habit of everytime he did a guest spot). I was already a huge fan of the original version and then came. I don't drink or smoke so I really identified with the song's title. The fact this dropped during the so-called East/West beef while Pac was alive made it even more special because it showed unity. Everyone was in their prime and ripped it. One of the best collabos ever. RIP Freaky Tah.

CLASSIC VIDEO: Nate Dogg feat. Snoop Doggy Dogg - "Never Leave Me Alone" (1996)

I still jam this on the regular.  Nate also sang this song on Vibe's talk show as a Tupac Tribute on the anniversary of Pac's death in 1997.  I also have him and Snoop performing this on Soul Train (uploads coming soon to my YouTube channel http://YouTube.com/DJCottonHere ).  This song had me so amped for Nate & Danny Boy's Death Row albums (too bad they took 2 and 14 years to come out respectively).

RADIO/SOUNDTRACK VERSION

"She told me what she went to school for/She wants to be lawyer, in other words shorty studies law"

This is that grimey 90s East Coast sound I love and miss.  I break out songs like this every year when it starts getting cold around this season.  This song is classic in every sense of the word.  The fact that you can already visualize this song even without the video is amazing.
